Since its incorporation in 1994, Kernan Consulting Engineers, based in Gloucester County , New Jersey , has provided municipal and private clients with a wide range of engineering, planning , surveying and environmental services. Kernan Consulting Engineers has served numerous public entities in Camden , Gloucester and Salem Counties . The firm has managed to address the individual needs of the client, while guiding development to maximize benefit to both community and developer alike.

J. Timothy Kernan, P.E., P.P., C.M.E., offers twenty two years experience as an engineer and planner and is the President of J. Timothy Kernan, Inc., a multi-disciplinary firm consisting of licensed/certified professionals who specialize in civil engineering, planning, land surveying and environmental services for private and public clients.

In our Municipal Engineering capacity, the firm has involvement in several areas such as road reconstruction, park design, utility (stormwater, sanitary sewer and potable water) master planning and design, lot grading services, inspection services and the maintenance of tax maps in coordination with respective municipal tax assessors. Another area of expertise our firm offers is the ability to work with agencies including the NJDEP, NJDOT, NJDCA and Army Corp of Engineers to secure various permits. In addition to these services our staff is experienced in the preparation of applications to secure grants through agencies such as DVRPC, NJDOT, TEA21 and Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

Kernan Consulting Engineers has extensive experience in the design and approval process in the State of New Jersey for single-family and multi-family residential, retail/commercial, office, industrial and institutional projects, including, in many cases, mixed-use development. The firm’s experience includes engineering design consistent with Municipal ordinances, County regulations, Utility Agency standards and State requirements including wastewater treatment, water quality regulations, flood plain and freshwater regulations, and threatened, endangered species habitat regulations and highway access regulations.

Kernan Consulting Engineers has collaborated with architects, builders, and other engineering firms in countywide efforts of sewer, highway, and building infrastructure and redevelopment to improve the programs currently underway will have enormous positive impacts thus empowering the sustainable growth of Southern New Jersey communities. In 2006 we participated in completing stormwater and utility feasibility studies in conjunction with the Transfer of Development Rights ( TDR ) project in Woolwich Township , Gloucester County and the engineering of the Gloucester County Stormwater Management Program.

Kernan Consulting Engineers currently serves as Engineer, Planner and/or conflict Engineer in either a Municipal or Planning/Zoning Board capacity for the municipalities of Franklin, Mantua, Monroe, Newfield, Pitman, Woodbury and Woodbury Heights in Gloucester County. A noteworthy private association is our long-term relationship developed with Virtua Health Systems. Projects were completed on the campuses in Marlton , Berlin and Voorhees.
